Mission & Vision

What's the Mission of St. Philip's?

Our mission is to help all people, young or old, to

Grow Faith
That Impacts the World
for Christ
.

We do that through the ministries and programs of the church. We have Kid’s Club for our youngest members. We have a dynamic Youth Group for our teens. And for adults we have Bible studies, fellowship groups, ministry opportunities, spiritual retreats and meaningful worship. Everything we do is focused on Growing Faith – faith in Jesus Christ.

What's the vision for St. Philip's?

The vision for St. Philip's begins with a desire to know God more deeply and allow that knowledge to deepen our faith and enrich our lives. The transformation of lives by the power of Jesus Christ can impact individuals, families, communities and the world. Our vision is to see that life changing faith lived out in everyday life.

We believe that can happen if we are able to keep five key principles in focus. They are:

They are:
1. We desire to experience God's presence and power in worship:
Worship will be a central part of our life as a congregation. We will practice excellent liturgical worship that allows people to connect with God and with one another. We will be intentional about prayer for people in our worship to invite God's power to work in our lives.

2. We seek to know God through the reading and teaching of the Word.
The more we know the Word of God the more our faith is strengthened. The Bible will be central in all that we do and all that we teach. It is the authority in our lives and we will strive to make it open and accessible to every Christian no matter the age. Therefore we will encourage study and strive for excellence in teaching and preaching the Word of God.

3. We strive to introduce people to Jesus and to live more like Him everyday.
We have been given a most powerful truth in Jesus Christ. As we grow in our knowledge and love Jesus our lives will be transformed. They will begin to look more like the life of Jesus. Our relationships will be impacted, our workplaces will be touched, our families will be enriched and our communities changed. At the same time we must not only live that truth but also share it with others. There is no more attractive witness to Jesus than a life that has been changed.

4. We will utilize our spiritual gifts and financial resources to serve others.
God calls everyone of us, both young and old, to use our gifts to serve others. He gives us the opportunity to serve because He knows that in giving we are blessed. We play a key role in His plan to reach a whole world. As we serve we will discover a far deeper purpose and meaning for our lives than we could have ever imagined. We will see our lives make a difference.

5. We are called to nurture servant leadership for ministry beyond ourselves.
We value leadership. That is the kind of servant leadership that Jesus demonstrated in His life. That means working as a team, empowering others without personal agendas. It means releasing people into ministry and letting them take the risks that will enable them to grow.
At the same time that leadership must have a focus beyond just ourselves and our own needs. Ministry beyond ourselves would include empowering our kids and youth to serve and lead the next generation. Ministry beyond ourselves includes mission opportunities outside the church, in our community and around the world. Ministry beyond ourselves includes raising up and sending leaders that can plant more new congregations with a servant heart.
